Kennywood Connection Site Redesign

Today, we are very happy to go live with our brand new, completely redesigned web site! We felt that our old site was in dire need of attention, and that the design was very outdated and lacked some important information about the park. The new site includes many added features such as:

  • A News page containing a searchable archive of past posts and updates made by Kennywood Connection
  • A dedicated page for every ride (excluding Kiddieland) including a description of the ride and a slideshow of pictures of the ride. We also hope to eventually include a video of most rides so that potential new visitors to the park can check out the rides ahead of time.
  • A Past Rides page listing attractions previously located in the park. This page is an ongoing project and we hope to expand it over time. If you have any information or pictures to contribute for this page, please let us know!
  • Listing of food venues, their locations, and what types of food / drinks can be found at each
  • Holiday Lights and Phantom Fright Nights pages including a description and pictures of each event as well as a listing of Phantom Fright Nights attractions
  • Park Information page which provides information on how to get to the park, hours, pricing and parking tips
  • Sister Park pages including a description of each park and a link to the park’s official web site

We hope that you enjoy the “new-and-improved” Kennywood Connection. Please feel free to leave a comment below or on our forums if you have any suggestions for additional improvements. Enjoy!

Johnny Rockets Coming to Kennywood for 2014

JR_LogoJohnny Rockets, Kennywood’s first sit-down restaurant in 30 years, will be coming to the park for 2014. This coming season, guests will be able to sit down in a classic American restaurant atmosphere while enjoying many menu items such as burgers, melts, hot dogs, salads, appetizers, and desserts such as milk shakes! Johnny Rockets is known for their singing and dancing staff.

Johnny Rockets will be located in the building formerly known as the Carousel Food Court. The structure of the building itself will remain, but the interior has been gutted and is currently being transformed into Johnny Rockets.

2013 Off-Season Photo Tour

Kennywood Connection recently had the opportunity to pay Kennywood a visit! While there is no new ride for 2013, there are many projects going on throughout the park. Guests will see various changes and improvements throughout the park! Among the highlights are:

  • Re-tracking and lift-hill structure work on Thunderbolt
  • Several carousel horses stripped and painted
  • Olde Kennywood Railroad rocking train display returns for 2013
  • Red and blue trains from Racer were sent to PTC to be refurbished
  • Barbecue / beer garden area is being enlarged and finished with new pavers
  • Addition of several more cabanas (located in the same area)
  • Purchase of new land behind Jack Rabbit and Racer finalized (will be used strictly as storage space for now)
  • Kiddieland improvements including new fences and enlarged ride areas at many rides, as well as a new policy allowing parents into more ride areas to assist children with entering and exiting the rides
  • The rumor that Raging Rapids and Olde Kennywood Railroad could be removed for a new ride is absolutely NOT TRUE! As stated above, the rocking train display is returning to the train this year, and many improvements are also being completed on Raging Rapids for 2013
