Kennywood Railroad Property Tour

On Sunday, July 27th as part of KennyKon XXV with ACE Western Pennsylvania, we had the opportunity to tour Kennywood’s railroad property. The property, located in the ravine behind Racer, was previously used as locomotive repair shops for the Union Railroad, and is primarily being used for storage at this time. There is a very wide variety of items stored on the property, ranging from Phantom Fright Nights and Holiday Lights props and decorations to parts of rides. Check out some of what we found!

Thunderbolt Named Kennywood’s Third ACE Roller Coaster Landmark

Today, Thunderbolt was named an “ACE Roller Coaster Landmark” by American Coaster Enthusiasts. This makes it the park’s third coaster, after Jack Rabbit and Racer, with the designation. This also makes Kennywood the only park in the world to be home to three ACE Roller Coaster Landmarks! The plaque, seen below, is visible on the left wall as you pass below the track while entering the Thunderbolt queue area.
