In 2008 Kenny TV as well as live shows will return to the Kennyville Stage with Master Entertainer Jason Pipatone. The Kennywood Band will also return to the park this summer after a brief vacation. The High Dive show is being replaced by the exciting Scheer’s Lumberjack Show. In conjunction with the “Pittsburgh 250” celebration, “Celebrate America” becomes Celebrate Pittsburgh! Kennywoods Famous Fall Fantasy Parades will also celebrate Pittsburgh this August.
A state-of-the-art dark ride named Ghostwood Estate will replace the Gold Rusher, which was removed this past August. The eight room haunted house combines a trackless conveyance system with cars programmed and monitored by a computer as well as numerous Computer Generated Images. The cars will be armed with blasters, that will provide guests the opportunity to compete with others in the vehicle by shooting at over 200 interactive targets throughout the estate.
KP Press Release
Kennywood has announced the Service Center Building will be converted into a gift shop for the 2007 season, as part of the theme for Cosmic Chaos. A new Guest Services Building will be located just down the midway at the former site of Chuckles Challenge across from the entrance to Noah’s Ark.
Cosmic Choas will replace the Flying Carpet. (There is no word on the future of the Flying Carpet at this time, however sources suggest the ride is for sale.)
The ride, called MEGA DISK’O by its manufacture Zamperla, Inc. seats 24 people on a giant disk, a.k.a., the UFO. From a top height of 50’ the space ship begins its untamed flight along the 120’ concave track while its passengers spin around in circle. The result? An experience that offers guests an “out of this world” experience!
The SS Kenny a smaller family version of the Disk-O will also be added to Kiddieland, the ride will sit on the former site of the Kiddie Cadillac’s.
The Mini Golf game located next to the entrance of Noah’s Ark has been removed. There is no word on future plans for the area at this time.
