Season Pass Processing on April 26-27

GREAT news for anyone needing to get a season pass made for the 2014 season! Kennywood has just announced that it will hold two Season Pass Processing days a full week in advance of opening day. For those with season pass vouchers needing to be processed, mark your calendars for Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27. From 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM, the park will host passholders at the front gate to process their season passes.

We highly recommend attending these days, especially if you plan to visit Kennywood on Opening Day. Trying to get your pass processed on Opening Day has historically been a frustrating experience with extremely long lines, so getting it out of the way early will definitely be nice. This is a great call by the park and goes to show they really do care about guests’ experience.

Johnny Rockets Construction & 2014 Off-Season Tour

Last week, KPConnection was given a special look at some of the projects Kennywood has in store for 2014. The biggest news is the construction of Johnny Rockets, but our in-depth tour has a few other interesting things as well!

Click here to check out the full album on our Facebook page. Be sure to read the photo captions, as they contain information we’ve learned about the new Johnny Rockets and other things going on in the park. Also, be sure to join in on the discussion on our forums.

Special thanks to Kennywood’s Public Relations director Jeff Filicko for providing us with this opportunity!

Idlewild’s Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood to be transformed for 2015

After 25 years of providing memorable experiences for parents and children alike, the Neighborhood Trolley will be taking a season off in preparation for a major new attraction for Idlewild and Soakzone. Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, PBS’s spin-off-sequel  to the iconic Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, will be the new theme in 2015 as guests ride the trolley to a revamped, renovated, and refurbished Neighborhood of Make-Believe.

The ride has been part of Idlewild’s lineup since 1989. The new version of the ride will be a collaboration between Idlewild and the Fred Rogers Company in order to create an experience faithful to the Neighborhood of Make-Believe portrayed on television, just like the original attraction. The same trolley will guide guests through the refurbished Neighborhood, which, like Daniel’s new program, is expected to maintain elements from the original ride that are prominent in both shows.

To help ease the transition period, Daniel Tiger will be appearing daily at the entrance to the attraction for meet-and-greets and photo opportunities.
