 DARK RIDES

Built: 1936
Completely rebuilt: 1996

Kennywood's famous ark was built in 1936. This ride has also been rebuilt and re-themed many times over the years. In 1996 Noah's Ark was completely rebuilt, and updated with new high tech thrills.

Think about this! In 1936 Noah built an Ark at Kennywood, he had to cope with a flood, and the Ark opened late. In 1996 Noah reconstructed that Ark at Kennywood, again he had cope with a flood, and the Ark opened late.

Opened: 1901
Re-themed: 2004

Also known as the Old Mill. This is Kennywood's oldest ride, built in 1901. Today, Garfield's Nightmare provides cut out 3-D scenes of everyone's favorite cat, Garfield. The ride is also painted in bright colors along with hundreds of black lights.

A state-of-the-art dark ride named Ghostwood Estate replaced the Gold Rusher which was removed at the end of the 2007 season. The eight room haunted house combines a trackless conveyance system with cars programmed and monitored by a computer as well as numerous Computer Generated Images. The cars will be armed with blasters, that will provide guests the opportunity to compete with others in the vehicle by shooting at over 200 interactive targets throughout the estate.
