SKY ROCKET CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
APRIL 27, 2010
Welcome back to another construction update for Kennywood's newest coaster, Sky Rocket. It's been several days since our last update due to the weekend and bad weather and quite a bit of work has been done since last Friday. Let's get right to the update shall we?

We'll start today's update off with an overview of the construction site. As you can see, quite a bit of supports have been put up since last week.

Another angle of the construction site. The mid-course/trim brake run supports are now all in and work has began on the supports for the second drop,

In other news, the LSM (Linear Synchronous Motors) the launch are now installed and are in the process of being hooked up.

It's hard to tell exactly how vertical the second drop is going to be, but you can definitely see that it will be a very steep drop.

Along with the many supports that have been put up over the past couple of days, the crew has also continued track work in the area of the second overbank turn.

Another angle of the newly erected overbank turn.

The MCBR supports are in the background, but if you look close, you can see the first supports that have started to popup for the barrel roll (right middle) and first hill (left).

Another shot showing off the first first supports to rise for the first hill after the launch.

A closer shot of the newly installed LSM motors.

As you can see, work has began on hooking up the motors.

A nice shot showing off the progress they have made since last Friday. Just about all of the supports for the entrance to this curve are now in place.

Close-up shot of the MCBR and entrance to the second drop.

A better shot showing off the newly installed supports for the first hill.

As these pictures were being taken, this piece of track was being lifted into place and ready to be installed to complete the second overbank turn.

The steel workers are seen hooking up this piece of track to the crane to be lifted into place.

On the other side of the construction site, these guys were seen inspecting the connection for one of the top hat supports.

Several pieces of track were seen loaded onto flatbeds and ready to be taken over to the construction site. These two pieces belong to the corkscrew and should be installed tomorrow should the weather cooperate.

The bus parking lot has certainly cleared out from a couple of weeks ago. If I had to say, about 85-90% of the supports are now installed, so it should be all track being installed pretty soon.

And we'll close out this update with one last shot at the construction site. I won't be surprised if this site looks a lot different in the coming days.

Thanks for checking out today's Sky Rocket Construction Update brought to you by Kennywood Connection. Stay tuned for another update in the coming days as more supports and track start to rise at Kennywood!
Thank you to KWC member Myself for providing the pictures used in today's construction update!
