SKY ROCKET
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
APRIL 14, 2010 |
| Welcome back to another construction update for Kennywood's newest coaster, Sky Rocket. First and foremost, I would like to thank Jeff Filicko from Kennywood Public Relations for providing pictures for today's short update! I'm fairly certain all our readers are going to enjoy this update! |

No you're not seeing things! It's taken some time but track has started to rise again! This time in the area of the station and turn into the launch. |
| |
|
Here's another look at the turn out of the station that eventually leads into the launch. Also take note at the interesting moving station track which is also going to be utilized as the coaster's transfer track. The foundation for the coaster's PLC (cargo container in the parking lot) can also be seen in the lower right portion of the picture. |
| |
|
A closer look at the progress made on the station. As you can see the track inside the station will also act as a transfer track to get trains on and off the circuit from the maintenance track (seen on the left). |
| |
|
Another angle of the station area as seen from the midway. Take note of high the station will be as seen from this area of the park. You can also see another look at the maintenance track on the left. |
| |
|
Here's a look at what looks to be a freshly poured foundation for the cargo container that is currently sitting in the parking lot. When finished, this is where all the computers for the coaster will be located. I would assume the loading platform is going to be right above this as well. And looking at the background a little you can also see several supports placed for the final brake run. Shouldn't be too long before more track starts popping up. |
| |
|
We'll finish off this small update with a look at all the launch supports that are installed. As you can see, it looks like most of these supports are in place and it shouldn't be too long before we start seeing track pop up here as well. |

Thanks for checking out today's Sky Rocket Construction Update brought to you by Kennywood Connection. Stay tuned for another update in the coming days as more supports and track start to rise at Kennywood!
