SKY ROCKET CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
MARCH 23, 2010
Welcome back to another construction update for Kennywood's newest coaster, Sky Rocket. We told readers in the last update that it wouldn't be too long before we saw some steel rise from the construction site, who would have thought it would be so soon!? There were some scattered showers today that some thought would have delayed this day until tomorrow, but luckily they were able to get four support pieces up before they called it a day.

So we start this update off with an overview of the construction site. By this time they had called it a day and no more pieces were being put in place. Surely more will be popping up everyday from here on out.

As you can see, these were the first support pieces put up today. We're not exactly sure what these supports belong to, other than that they are located towards the end of the ride.

The crane should surely be getting a lot of use within the next couple of weeks. As you can see, it looks like they started loading up a few pieces of support to take to the construction site.

Some more support pieces which look to be on their way to the construction site.

Quite the interesting looking support piece. I wonder what part of the coaster this baby belongs to?
Another overview of the construction site which will hopefully be more active tomorrow.

Still not exactly sure what these supports are for or whether or not these four supports belong to the same element. It's kinda hard to tell with this camera angle.

As you can tell, they have quite a few pieces ready to go on the construction site...these will most likely be put up sometime tomorrow.

Another view of Sky Rocket's first supports. Whatever these supports belong to, it looks pretty high off the ground.

You can tell in this picture that they are still in the process of doing footer work. Hopefully they'll be all done with this pretty soon.

Another angle of the newly erected supports...anyone have an idea what these might be for?

This baby is still on site so I don't think they're done with footers just yet, but we probably won't see it here for much longer.

The station area waiting to be given attention. The caution tape might signal that this might be one of the next areas to get supports?

One last angle of the supports. Hopefully there will be a lot more up for the next update!

And we leave you with one final shot of the construction site. This view is going to look a lot different in the coming weeks.

Thanks for checking out today's Sky Rocket Construction Update brought to you by Kennywood Connection. Stay tuned for another update in the coming days as more supports and track start to rise in Kennywood!
Thank you to KWC member Myself for providing pictures used in today's construction update!
