In 1924 John
Miller was hired again to build a second coaster at
Kennywood, this time it was the Pippin, which later was
redesigned in 1967 by Andy Vettel. Who called his new
coaster the Thunderbolt. The new coaster used four of
the old Pippin's dips, the first two and the last two,
including the final 90 ft drop.

The
parks first indoor roller coaster. The Exterminator is a combination of
many different rides. First it provides the thrills of a roller coaster!
Second it spins you around and around like one of those Tea Cup rides!
Third it provides the thrills of a dark ride. Some of the areas inside
include underground sewer systems, a slime room, an electrical room, a
boiler room, a destroyed section of track, a tunnel illusion, a giant
rat, plus numerous special effects. Put all these images together and
you have a coaster car spinning in circles, as it travels around the
track in this dark themed building.

The Jack
Rabbit roller coaster marked a new era in Kennywood
coaster history. This was the first coaster at Kennywood
to use a system of upstops, or wheels under the track.
This prevented the coaster cars from ever leaving the
track, thus hills could be made steeper, which enabled
for faster speeds. This coaster was designed by John
Miller.

In 1991 Kennywood added the Steel
Phantom, at the time of construction the
worlds steepest, fastest roller coaster.
With a record breaking drop of 225 ft.
and a top speed of 80 mph. In 2001 That
very same record breaking was used in
the construction of a new coaster bigger
and better than the Steel Phantom.

In 1927 John
Miller built a third coaster for Kennywood, this was the
last coaster he ever designed. This time it was a single
track racing coaster called the Racer, it features two
cars that race on a track that is actually one long
loop, so if you start on the right you will end up on
the left, and vice versa.
